KINGSTON, R.I. - University of Rhode Island senior gymnast Erica Heaney (North Plainfield, N.J.) has been named ECAC Co-Gymnast of the Week. She shares the honor with Lauren Tatsuno of Yale University.

Heaney competed in three events and earned a first-place finish on the bars to lead the Rams to a 192.000-191.000 win over the Tribe of William & Mary on Saturday. Heaney received a career-high score of 9.875 on the bars and also helped the Rams to a win on the beam and a tie on the vault. She garnered a score of 9.600 on the vault and a 9.500 on the beam.

Heaney becomes the second URI gymnast to earn Gymnast of the Week honors this season. Two weeks ago, sophomore Ananda Fraser (Diego Martin, Trinidad) earned the same honor.

The Rams wrap up the 2008 season this Saturday when they return to William & Mary to compete at the EACC Championships in Williamsburg, Va.
